Member Services Specialist

The Member Services Specialist is responsible for providing the highest level of customer service to internal and external clients. This position manages the problem resolution process for all customers by responding promptly and professionally to all inquiries. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for educating our members and potential members about how their health plan works and its specific benefits.

  • Perform a broad variety of member services functions
  • Anticipates and meets, or exceeds, internal and/or external customer/member expectations and requirements; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers by ensuring timely and thorough responses to inquiries and excellent follow through.
  • Responds to member questions via telephone and written correspondence regarding enrollment and eligibility issues, billing and premium inquiries, and product and insurance benefit information with professionalism and tact.
  • Analyzes problems and provides information and solutions. Educates consumers/members as needed.
  • Thoroughly documents inquiry outcomes for accurate tracking and analysis.
  • Develops and maintains positive customer relations and coordinates with various functions within the company Researches and analyzes data to address operational challenges and member service issues.as needed to ensure appropriate resolutions.
  • Provides external and internal customers/members with requested information.
  • Uses computerized systems for tracking, information gathering and troubleshooting.
  • Make outbound calls to develop and promote relationships between members and Minuteman Health
  • Effectively educate members and potential members on Minuteman products and services
  • Undertake and complete other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and phone skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced setting and work effectively in a team environment
  • Prior experience in member services preferred
  • Knowledge of the health insurance industry preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) or other is helpful
  • Desire to provide service that will lead to long-term and positive relationships with our customers
