Minuteman Health Names Two New Board Members

BOSTON (December 2, 2013) – Minuteman Health (http://www.minutemanhealth.org), the first and only member-governed, non-profit health insurance plan in Massachusetts, today announced the addition of two health care industry executives to its board of directors. Christopher D. Perna is Chief Executive Officer of The Eden Alternative, Inc., an international non-profit dedicated to transforming long-term elder care communities through education and training. From 1999 to 2009 he was president and COO of MedAmerica Companies, one of the leading long-term care insurers and third-party administrators in the United States. Prior to joining MedAmerica, Mr. Perna held senior executive positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield in New York and Boston. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics and economics from Brown University. Kelly DeKeyser has run his own firm, Start Health Advisors LLC, since 2006, where he has led investments in early-stage healthcare and technology companies and has directed two turnarounds of companies in Florida and Texas. He currently sits on the board of ProHealth Physicians, Inc., a 240-physician primary care group/ACO in Connecticut. Earlier, Mr. DeKeyser was a senior vice president at UnitedHealth Group in Connecticut. He also held top positions at Vivra, Inc. and First Physician Care, Inc., both based in Atlanta, and at Cigna Healthcare of California. Mr. DeKeyser earned a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from Arizona State University. “Chris and Kelly bring great business knowledge and industry perspective to the table,” said Ellen Zane, chair of Minuteman’s board of directors. “We’re thrilled to have them on the team as we introduce our exciting new concept to the marketplace.”
