Minuteman Health Received Seal of Approval from the Massachusetts Health Connector

BOSTON (9/17/2013) – Minuteman Health (www.minutemanhealth.org), Massachusetts’ only member-governed, non-profit health insurance plan has received the Seal of Approval from the Massachusetts Health Connector. Minuteman was also named as one of seven health insurers to offer ConnectorCare plans to the Massachusetts population eligible for state and federal subsidies. These critical milestones mean that Minuteman is able to sell their plans to Massachusetts’ residents using the state’s health insurance exchange. Minuteman is the only new entrant to this year’s list of ten health insurance plans participating on the Connector. “We are pleased to work with the Massachusetts Health Connector to offer expanded choice to the individuals and small businesses in the Commonwealth,” said Thomas Policelli, Minuteman’s Chief Executive Officer. The Massachusetts Health Connector Board voted on Thursday, September 12th to award the Seal of Approval to ten health insurance plans to be offered on the Connector in 2014, with sales starting in October. Jean Yang, Executive Director of the Health Connector, said the vote was a “significant step” in the state’s preparation for implementing federal health care reform. Minuteman currently has a provider network of more than 3,000 hospitals, physicians, and other health care providers in Central and Eastern Massachusetts, and is growing daily. Minuteman is pleased to bring new competition and choice to the Massachusetts Commonwealth. Open enrollment for the Health Connector begins on October 1, 2013. Minuteman will also be selling their products through Health Services Administrators (www.hsainsurance.com) and its broker network. Coverage for the plans will begin January 1, 2014.
