PHARMACY FAQS

How can I find an In-Plan Pharmacy near me?

Use the In-Plan Provider search tool and go to the Other Providers tab. From the Specialty drop-down menu, select Pharmacy. Be sure to select New Hampshire as your plan’s state. If you need assistance, call the Member Services Team at 855-644-1776, Monday through Friday from 8am until 6pm.

What is a brand-name drug?

A brand medication has a trade name and is protected by a patent (meaning it can be produced and sold only by the manufacturer holding the patent). The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reviews and approves brand medications before they become available. In general, brand medications are more expensive than generic medications.

What is a generic drug?

Generic medications are FDA-approved drugs dispensed under a name that is not trademarked. A generic medication has the same dosage, strength, route of administration and intended use as its brand-name equivalent. Generic medications are often less expensive than brand medications.

How do I find out how much I will pay for my medication?

Log in to the OptumRx pharmacy portal and enter your medications. You’ll then be able to see their costs, as well as any applicable Prior Authorizations they require. You can also call the Member Services Team at 855-644-1776, Monday through Friday from 8am until 6pm.

What is a Prior Authorization and why would I need one?

A Prior Authorization is an approval from Minuteman Health for your In-Plan Provider to prescribe a specific medication for you. Your In-Plan Provider is responsible for obtaining a Prior Authorization on your behalf. This is to ensure the medication is the right treatment for your condition.

What is a specialty medication and where can I get it filled?

A specialty medication typically requires special handling, administration and monitoring. Specialty medications are used for chronic health conditions that are difficult to treat, such as multiple sclerosis, hepatitis or rheumatoid arthritis. Specialty medications must be filled through our specialty pharmacy, BriovaRx.
